New England Match Longest Winning Streak From Brady Era with Win Against New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has scored five TDs this season
New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch from the Tom Brady period as they beat AFC East rivals the Jets by 13 points in professional football
First-year standout Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the Patriots notched an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019
QB Drake Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The triumph bolsters the Patriots lead at the top of the division as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the New York bottom after falling to a 2-8 mark
The Jets had taken the lead at their home field with quarterback Fields rushing for a short rushing score to conclude the New York's initial series
But the New England responded in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7
"That was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," Maye commented on the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."
Fields threw to John Metchie toward the end of the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots closed out the victory
